Rhizome Springs
The Land of Living Inquiry
Rhizome Springs is an off-grid community on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia — an exploratorium for ecology, creativity and embodiment situated on Mt. Tuam in unceded Coast Salish territories.
Brand & Messaging
Designed the brand identity, website and messaging framework — distilling the community's philosophy into the tagline "The Land of Living Inquiry" and the guiding metaphor: the land becomes the laboratory; the community the teachers; the body the compass.
Developed a three-pillar framework — Embodiment, Ecology and Creativity — to anchor the organization's programming and public-facing narrative, articulating a vision that had previously existed only in conversation.
Organizational Design
Designed the organizational structure and governance model to support a community rooted in self-sufficiency, regeneration and shared stewardship — translating emergent values into practical decision-making systems for power, water, waste, building and food.
Land Stewardship
Alongside Ari Lazer, in support of Selena La Brooy, served as acting land steward for approximately two years — engaging directly with the rhythms of the property, coordinating community programming, and holding the space through its formative period of development.
"Patricia is the caretaker of a very unique kind of intelligence. Her breadth of curiosity is outstripped only by her capacity to move mountains, and light up whole communities when she is inspired by a project. Getting to collaborate with her across the many disciplines we have, has been a true joy over these last 5 years." — Ari Lazer, Interdisciplinary Artist
